An experimental and comparative study of the self-loosening of bolted-joints under cyclic transverse loading

The capabilities of analytic models in predicting the experimental critical displacements self-loosening bolted-joints were investigated experimentally and numerically. loosening rates determined a Junker test bench at constant transverse displacement amplitude (0.45 mm) under varying initial clamp force length controlled bearing thread friction coefficients. then calculated using parameters. In addition, three-dimensional accompanying finite element (FE) model was developed order to calculate ratio spring constants engaging spring. results showed relatively low present prediction bolted-joints. efforts modify nut reaction moment inclination compliance bolt head portion equations however resulted moderate increase correct predictions. On other side, use by FE increased from 58.3 73.4%. accuracy further an appropriate kw value, but this case only ~4%.
